Mark the date down -- Saturday, 3 December.
That's when the highly anticipated Transformers theme park ride at Universal Studios Singapore throws its doors open to the public.
Gracing the exclusive gala premiere of "Transformers: The Ride" a day earlier will be none other than Michael Bay, director and executive producer of the Transformers blockbuster franchise and the attraction's creative consultant.
"I am very excited about the debut of this attraction at Universal Studios Singapore. Finally, Transformers fans will not only have the chance to watch the Autobots battle the Decepticons on screen; they'll actually be part of the action," Bay said.
In a statement, USS said the motion thrill ride will showcase the most advanced evolution of immersive theme park entertainment. It will feature 12 scenes, comprising sets blended seamlessly with hyper-realistic 3-D digital media and special effects to bring tactile realism to every moment.
Guests will be transported onboard advanced motion-based ride vehicles into the Transformers universe and partake in a 3D battle against Decepticons alongside the Autobots.
Enlisted as Nest recruits, thrill-seekers will be tasked to help the Autobots protect a remaining shard of the Allspark — a powerful energy cube that gives life to the Transformers.
As the Decepticons attack the facility in a bid to obtain the shard, guests will be introduced to a new Autobot — Evac — created exclusively for the ride, which will bring them through 3-D subway tunnels, down city streets and across rooftops at breakneck speed.
Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) said it's confident the ride will raise the bar for immersive ride experiences anywhere in the world and will be a game changer for theme park attractions.
Tan Hee Teck, CEO of Resorts World Sentosa, said, "Resorts World Sentosa transformed Singapore as its first integrated resort in 2010, and we will continue to bring in game changing attractions to the region."
Special year-end holiday packages for Universal Studios Singapore will be rolled out through the Resorts World Sentosa website and authorised travel agents. '

TRANSFORMERS The Ride To Open Soon
Universal Studios Singapore announced that it would debut the world's first "Transformers" ride come this December aptly named 'TRANSFORMERS The Ride'.
Hasbro and the popular film franchise directed by Michael Bay, who is also the creative consultant for the thrill ride, will encompass a "Transformers" experience using "realistic high definition 3D media, advanced visual effects, and one of the most elaborate roaming flight simulator systems ever integrated into a ride-car vehicle."
'TRANSFORMERS The Ride' brings the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons to live as guests are transported into the world of "Transformers" as members of the newly introduced Human-Autobot alliance called N.E.S.T., giving them the chance to 'Live The Movies' as per its tagline and right in the thick of the action to protect the Allspark from the Decepticons.
Mr. Dennis Gilbert, Senior Vice President of Attractions at Resorts World Sentosa, was quoted as saying, "The extension of the "Transformers" movie franchise into a theme park thrill ride is an exciting part of the natural progression. This blockbuster, which made waves around the world with its stunning special effects and non-stop action, is the perfect recipe for a dynamic, thrilling theme park ride like none before it."
Licensed from Hasbro and in association with Dreamworks SKG, the ride also worked with Industrial Light & Magic, a division of Lucasfilm Ltd. own by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, which created the visual effects for the movie franchise, to produce special effects and 3D images especially for the ride.
'TRANSFORMERS The Ride' at Universal Studios Singapore opens in December will reside in the 'Sci-Fi City' zone, which is also currently home to the roller coasters 'Battlestar Galactica: Human' and 'Battlestar Galactica: Cylon'.

Roller coaster grounded due to ‘flaw in design’ of cars
Genting Group chairman and chief executive Lim Kok Thay says a “flaw in the design” of a car is causing Universal Studios Singapore's star attraction, the Battlestar Galactica, to be grounded for more than four months.
“The ride is under a major re-design. Not the track itself. It’s a flaw in the design of the car that would not perform to the standards that we wish for it to perform,” he said.
He added that it was their policy to shut down the ride on “grounds of safety, not that there was any mishap or accident”, when signs showed it could have been unsafe after rigorous testing.
Police suspended the roller coaster’s licence on March 25 due to a technical glitch found during a test run.
According to Mr Lim, its closure has not affected visitorship to Resort World Sentosa with crowds still heading to the theme park.
Some people Yahoo! Singapore spoke to are waiting anxiously for the ride to re-open and hope things are sorted out quickly without compromising safety.
“I was looking forward to taking my family there to ride it but it’s still not fixed,” said administrative officer Nur Diana, 28.
Sales executive Andy Tan, 31, felt that the theme park should reduce entrance fees since the main attraction is not running.
He said. “We are paying $72 for a weekend pass but can’t take the Battlestar Galactica. Don’t you think they should compensate visitors for this?”
Another visitor, Jolene Chua, 34, prefers to wait patiently before the green light is given for the rides to operate again.
“It’s better to be safe now than sorry later, so I would prefer them to take their time and make sure everything is fixed before re-opening the rides,” she said.

Park Overview
- Universal Studios Singapore is a theme park located within Resorts World Sentosa on Sentosa Island, Singapore. It was a key component of Genting's bid for the right to build Singapore's second integrated resort. On December 8, 2006, the Singapore government announced that the consortium had won the bid, and the construction of the theme park and the rest of the resort started on April 19, 2007. It is the second Universal Studios Theme Parks to open in Asia, and the first in Southeast Asia. The official plans for the park were unveiled to the public when Universal Studios Singapore released a map of it to the public on October 20, 2009.
- Park History
Construction of Resorts World Sentosa, and Universal Studios Singapore began on April 19, 2007. After just under three years of construction, the park opened on March 18, 2010.
Universal Studios Singapore was opened for sneak peek week in view of the Chinese New Year Celebrations, from 5pm to 9pm every night between 14 to 21 February 2010. The whole park was opened but none of the rides were operational. Visitors had to pay SGD10 to get into the park. Park tickets for the week were sold out in 2 days. On 5 March 2010, it was announced that the park will start opening on 8:28am 18 March 2010, for a soft-opening phase. From 13 March 2010 the team members of Resorts World Sentosa and their families can start visiting the park before the public has a chance to do so.

Park Layout
The Universal Globe
The park is 20 hectares (49 acres) in size, occupying the easternmost part of the 49 hectares (120 acres) Resorts World Sentosa. There are a total of 24 attractions, of which 18 are original or specially adapted for the park. It consists of seven uniquely themed zones which surround a lagoon. Each zone is based on a blockbuster movie or television show, featuring their own unique attractions, character appearances, dining and shopping areas. The park features the world's tallest duelling roller coaster based on the hit television show Battlestar Galactica, a castle from the world of Sherk and Monster Rock, a live musical show by the infamous Universal Monsters as well as celebrity look-alikes. The park also includes about 30 restaurants and food carts together with 20 unique retail stores and carts located around the park.
The park is home to the world’s biggest single collection of DreamWorks Animation theme park attractions, occupying 2 of the 7 themed zones, namely based on "Far Far Away" from Shrek and the island of "Madagascar" from the computer-animated movie Madagascar.
A total of 18 attractions opened on the Opening Day of the park, along with multiple shopping and dining outlets. Universal Parks and Resorts is marketing the park as a "one-of-its-kind theme park in Asia" as they promised that the park will be the only one of its kind in Southeast Asia for the next 30 years.
Seven themed zones make up Universal Studios Singapore. Attractions premiering are marked "Premiere". Dining Outlets that are Halal certified are marked with "Halal".

Glitch shuts Battlestar Galactica
A wek since it opened to the public, USS's star attraction, the Battlestar Galactica rollercoaster ride has been closed due to a glitch. A technical problem was discovered on one of the ride's vehicles during routine testing. The theme park immediately closed the ride "in keeping with our commitment to employee and guest safety", RWS said, adding that it could remain closed "for several days or longer" and would not operate until the problem's cause and solution are determined. The Battlestar Galactica is touted as the tallest duelling coaster in the world-standing at 42.5m-and part of the ride features an inverted roller coaster track, while another reaches spped of up to 90kmh. No one was injured and the relevant athorities were informed.
